I am teaching a high school student to access the internet using JAWS. He is significantly cognitively delayed, and has difficulty processing everything JAWS reads to him. He has done very well memorizing keyboard commands, and understands the layout of the keyboard.
Are there any websites you have used that may be more simple in content, as well as information JAWS will have to read, while still keeping the interest of a high school student.
I have tried going to websites that might interest him, such as Harry Potter or Disney World, but there is so much information on the page, and he is not really catching any of it as it is read by JAWS. Even if we use the CTRL key to stop JAWS from reading the page, there are still so many links on the page, it is quite difficult for him to navigate.
As always, any help would be greatly appreciated! He is definitely a very motivated student!
Heidi
