Subject: [AERNet] birds and blind kids
Question: What is a very articulate, concise way to
explain to a young congenitally blind child why h/she can hear birds, but
cannot touch them? In other words, the temptation of some very young
children who have never seen is to hear the birds chirping and to believe
that they can simply run up to that bird and touch it, yet the birds will
always flee. How can one concisely and simplistically explain the reason for
this?
