[AERNet] Birds & blind kids-also squirlls

I'm currently working with a child who thought that squirrels are a kind of bird.  The child indicated that they are in trees like birds & are like birds.  So logical.  (Like planets look like stars to me.  Why would I think they are different)  We discussed & compared squirrels to other animals she was more familiar with- mice, rats, gerbils.   I think  a visit with a pet rat or gerbil would have been good, but other health issues make animal visits problematic.  

I find I am frequently asking "What do you know about ___________" as topics emerge.  The answers are surprising, and make me wish for many more hours in the day.
