Have the young woman contact RFB&D. Our state Rep. with RFB&D presented
to VI teachers in our area and indicated that there is a grant for
providing digital players for students. The toll free number is
800-221-4792.

Subject: resources for digital audio books player
Hi there-I thought this would be a good question to ask the well
seasoned staff.
A young woman called me yesterday asking about options to get a digital
audio book player for less than $199 (which is what is posted on the
web-site she found). She is in school getting her master's degree (She
said Voc Rehab has closed her as a client, so VR funding is not an
option). She said the State library is not going to have digital
players until June of 2007 at the earliest, so that is not an option.
Some of the text books she needs for her current classes are only
available on digital audio, not on tape anymore. She was wondering 1)
if we knew of any other funding sources to pay for such an item or 2) do
we know other places to buy a player that might be cheaper?
Wondering what all of you know of-
