Hello,
I just joined up to this list and from what I can tell, it looks like a
promising outlet for resources on what we all do as educators in the
world of vision impairments.
My question is in regards to what techniques you all have employed when
promoting a Braille student to read with both hands and to increase
overall fluency? I have a very intelligent 5th grade student who is not
keeping up her Braille reading speed as she should be. She is currently
reading approximately 43 wpm with semi-frequent errors. She is fully
aware of all literary contractions but has difficulty maintaining speed.
She is reading with both index fingers and I am promoting her use of her
middle fingers as well.
We are practicing using drills, shared readings, and prediction
strategies, but I am looking for fresh ideas.
Any resources or techniques you may be able to offer would be most
appreciated!
Thanks!
