He taught her how to skim by reading to her as she followed along in the
braille. He'd stop suddenly and her job was to read
the next word. Then he'd pick it up again and repeat
the pattern at random places in each sentence. He
adjusted his reading speed to her ability to track in
the braille. 

[Lori] I do exactly that, and when I stop, I pick a word that is a Braille
contraction reversal that my student has difficulty with such as en, in, sh,
m, etc... We also frequently do 2 minute time tests.
