[AERNet] Braille flash cards?

I've seen braille flash cards mentioned on this and other lists and I have a
question.
Prof. Susanna Millar's research showed than one of the keys to effective
braille reading is organized lateral or horizontal motions. She also noted
the importance of good posture so as to maintain consistent spatial
orientation of the braille text relative to the reader's body. Also I've
read that braille experts in the US sometimes recommend the use of lead-in
and lead-out lines of dots-25 cells for each line of braille to help
beginning braille learners develop proper reading mechanics.
So it would seem to me that the practice of reading individual braille words
from braille flash cards might work against the development of good braille
reading habits. Of course, I'm not a braille reading expert so I could be
all wrong on this. My question is whether anyone has encountered any
problems with the use of flash cards?
Sincerely,
SusanJ
