[AERNet] Questions to ask classroom teachers at the beginning of the year

Hi All,

Joyce kindly responded to my post, but for some reason her reply didn't
go to the list so I'm posting it for her. If others have suggestions it
would be great to hear them. We could collect them and pass them on to
new teachers and to the teachers in training at the universities.

Thanks in advance,

Ike

Subject: Re: [AERNet] FW: Braille music

Ike-

Here's what works for me in the district for which I work. I ask the
teachers for copies of the books each of my students will be using along
with a copy of their annual "curriculum on the wall (COW)" Teachers are
more apt to assist in this way because all they have to do is give over
some hardback books and a sheet of paper that lists what skills/topics
will be covered in what month of the year. I typically get this stuff at
the end of the previous year so that I can plan my braille instruction
for the following year so that it parallels their curriculum. Everyone
is happy!-) I even have a few teachers who give me all "loose-leaf"
pages that are used as extracurricular activity in the
classroom.....transcribe it if necessary.

Hope this helps....
