The Quicktionary pen has been around for a long time. It works fine if you have the ability to see the material enough to position the device over the word or phrase to be read aloud or to get the definition and track it along the line of text.. It is fine for capturing single words or phrases, but I questions its use for long-term reading of a passage or other long text, as one has to stop after each short scan in order to listen to it.

The Quicklink Pen version scans and stores more text, but, again, I question how effective this would be for a VI student who has to track the pen across lines of text.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. We'll never run out of math teachers because they always multiply. Those who get too big for their britches will be exposed in the end.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's from Wizcom (www.quicktionary.com) and says that it's good for LD kids, and one of my teachers was asking about it for a VI student that we have. Sounds to good to be true....heard anything?
