As far as eye conditions go, CMV stands for cytomegalic inclusion virus.
You can find more information at this website:
www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/cytomegalic/cytomegalic.htm

Also, the HM for the visual acuity in the left eye is probably hand
motion.

Make sure that you screen your student with CMV for hearing loss because
it has been my experience that many of our CMV children had that type of
lost and needed services as a student with deaf/blindness.

Interested in Continuing Education credits with the Vision Specialist
Program at Mississippi State University? The Vision Specialist Program
is designed for rehabilitation counselors and rehabilitation counseling
students who want to specialize in serving those who are blind or
visually impaired. In order to complete the graduate certificate
program, students complete 12 graduate credits on line, and on the
beautiful MSU campus! The program is sponsored by the Rehabilitation
Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Blindness and Low Vision and the
Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education
at Mississippi State University. Applications are due soon, so don't
wait to begin the application process! There is still time, but initial
contact should happen before November 15. Full scholarships and
stipends are still available.

For more information about the program, visit
www.distance.msstate.edu/vision or contact Jodi Roberts at
jroberts at aoce.msstate.edu.

Ok, the brilliant people on this list might be my salvation for the day.
Here are my two questions: to improve really bad overhead fluorescent
lighting in classroom, what kind of replacement fluorescent bulbs would
you
recommend? The school is willing to change them out if I can give them
the
correct information. And the abbreviation of "CMA"? It is listed as a
diagnosis in a report (and I would call the OD but mother won't give
permission to contact him. Sigh.)

Thanks. I will sit by the computer and wait for my answers. You are
the
best!

Hello,
I have a student diagnosed with chorioretinitis. The eye report
reads as CMV chorioretinitis. Would anyone know what the initials
CMV stand for as well as HM as an accuity reading for the left eye?
Eye reports are usually an enigma for vision teachers.
   Thank you.

I have a three year old student who has CVI as a result of incredible
amounts of seizures, which are still ongoing. She is completely
non-ambulatory, nonverbal, and almost non-responsive except for a
startle response. I took some of Lillie Nielson's ideas combined with
some of Christine Roman's ideas and built a Little Room with all yellow
objects. Her response has been incredible. When she is playing, her
eyes simply go crazy to put it one way. They cross intensely, then go
out, cross again, then go out. I know she sees the objects because she
actually reaches for them and will not react to other colored objects.
But there is no hint of intentional eye movement that I can detect.
When we take her out of the Room, she simply quiets and goes back to
passive. Her eyes will cross, but not very often. Anyone have any idea
if there is a purpose--albeit unconscious--to the eye crossing?

Hello to all once again,
Thank you so much for all your input concerning the spelling of
BRAILLIANT
You all had your reasons for what you thought would be politically right
and most of you thought that it was more beautiful and appropriate as
BRAILLIANT.
After I wrote to you I did more homework in a braille dictionary....
here is why have decided to go with BRAILLIANT.
braille
brailled drop the e add

And now you have it........... if you are Brilliant you could be
both Brilliant & Brailliant

I am trying to get this shirt done in the next couple of
weeks............
I still would love to hear your thoughts on what you think as well as
what I think,
Do I hear any orders?????????????? : ) : )

go in front of the big boss and the supervisors tomorrowfor a
'debrief'...because of my two big mistakes on Monday. Just an inquiry on
what happened and what I'll do to make sure it doesn't happen in the
future. I'll live. Just wish I could get over this cold FINALLY! Luvs
