[AERNet] social skills

I am very interested in the reply to this email also. I, too, have a middle schooler whose mom is doing everything she can to isolate her son who has CP and a visual impairment. She doesn't mean to, she wants to protect her son. but preventing him from participating in extracurricular activities (in spite of the willingness of the school personnel in charge's willingness to make accomodations) is causing my student to be isolated. She says she does not want her son to be laughed at. There is no reason for this. He is a charmer and has no disfiguring features. You'd have to look closely, I'm told, to see his CP (mainly a slight limp when he walks and limited use of one arm) and he has a lot of vision

  Subject: [AERNet] social skills

  Hello everyone,
Does anyone have a recommendation for a video either online or otherwise, to use as a presentation to a parent (who has a blind child in middle school) on social skills? This is a parent who is resistant. I don't want a power point presentation of words. I'm looking for visuals preferably in a film format. My feeling is if I show this parent textbook style information, she will just pass over it. Any ideas? As always, thanks. JoAnne
