My young students, and my not-so-young students, love using the
Mountbatten brailler. It provides hard-copy braille on the spot, but also
provides verbal feedback to the student. I have found this to be very
motivating to my students. It also requires much less pressure to use the
keys and it is ergonomically designed. Over the years I have developed
carpal-tunnel syndrome and tendonitis in my hands and fingers, and I
think it is at least partially due to my use of the Perkins brailler,
which is not ergonomically designed. So as an adult I enjoy using the
Mountbatten as well.
