[AERNet] Another Nemeth question

I have a new student this year who can read 7th grade math/Nemeth but chooses to take notes in a literary math format.  Apparently he prefers his way because it takes less time.  Do you think I should spend time teaching him how to produce Nemeth equations etc. or at this point should he do what he feels is most efficient?  This is a student who has a 94 average in all subjects.  Thanks for your help. JoAnne
