Subject: [AER-Board] FW: "Highlights", August 2015 AER Board of Directors Meeting
Importance: High

-AER President, Christy Shepard, presided over a quorum of fellow Board members during the August 14-15, 2015 meeting of the AER Board of Directors, including the AER executive director and two AER staff.

-AER's declining membership was and will be a major focus of attention during future AER Board meetings.

-Jill Brown, Chair of Division Chairs, announced that the development of a Division Handbook is a work in progress; she also reported that the two new AER divisions'( International & Global Issues and Physical Activity and Recreation) memberships were increasing.

-Dr. Deborah Gold, Canadian representative to the AER Board of Directors, reported that two Canadians have expressed interest in interviewing for the editor position for the re-established Canadian Newsletter. Dr. Gold announced that Lou Tutt, executive director of AER, will be speaking at the Ontario Chapter of AER Conference the end of October 2015.

-The new AER Code of Ethics, submitted to the AER Board by the AER Code of Ethics Task Force, was approved. The Code of Ethics will become an entry in the AER Policy and Procedures Manual (Section 10) and will go up on the AER Website.

-Adriana Mattei-Sosa, Chair of the Council of Chapter Presidents, reported on the two Town Hall Meetings she hosted earlier this summer for leaders of AER chapters on the AER Chapter Affiliate Agreement, approved by the AER Board last April 2015. Many concerns were raised by those who attended the Town Hall meetings. As a result of those concerns, as reported to the AER Board by Adriana, the Board has directed Adriana to revise the AER Chapter Agreement, with input and feedback from chapter leaders, by working with a group chapter leaders and the AER staff. Adriana will then bring a revised AER Chapter Affiliate Agreement back to the Board for its review and approval at a future AER Board meeting.

-The AER Board of Directors welcomed new staff member, Angela Smith, Director of Professional Development and Internal Relations, who joined AER June 1, 2015.

-The next meeting of the AER Board of Directors is scheduled for November 13-14, 2015. Written reports from Board members, AER staff, AER committees and divisions are due Friday, October 30, 2015. Old/New Business items from Board members are due Friday, November 6, 2015.

On behalf of AER President Christy Shepard, these AER Board Meeting "Highlights" of the August 2015 AER Board Meeting have been approved and are to be shared with the AER members for whom the members of the AER Board of Directors are responsible.

Thank you,

Lou
