I received notification that the Dept. of Education, Rehabilitation Services
Administration (RSA) is requesting a continuation of the current method it
uses to collect data from the Older Individuals Who Are Blind (OIB) program.
It includes for those who have had to deal with it, the famous form 70B.  I
consulted with B.J. Lejeune at MSU-NRTC. She is the OIB specialist there.
B.J. informs me lots of suggestions and comments have been sent to RSA to
improve the data collection system and that RSA is working on it.  However,
since the regulation on the current system is expiring, the regulation
request is simply to extend the current system.  I recommend AER makes no
comment as it appears everyone is working in good faith to eventually
improve the system and the extension will give RSA needed breathing room.
