To Members of the Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment Division (2):

At the upcoming conference in Jacksonville, FL (July 20-24), we have  several employment-related paper presentations on schedule and three important meetings.

The Division 2 Business Meeting and Awards ceremony is scheduled from 6:00 - 7:30 on Thursday evening.  Check your schedule for the room assignment.  At that meeting, the Division's Vieceli Award will be given to Joe Strechay, Director of the Pennsylvania State agency for the Blind.

On Friday, July 22, there will be a general session on employment commencing at 1:30, right after the AER Awards ceremony where the McAulay Award will be given to John Mascia of the Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind.  The McAulay is AER's highest employment award.

The general session will feature speakers on Transition, employment of the Older Blind, the role of O&M in fostering employment-readiness, and a review of current research from the National Research and Training Center (NRTC) at Mississippi State University.

Finally, on Saturday, a follow-up Roundtable discussion will take place at 3:00 in room Grand 8.  We hope the general session and follow-up Roundtable will serve to increase awareness of employment to all members of AER.  Division 2 members are urged to come to all three meetings.

Looking forward to seeing you in Jacksonville.
