Attached are two articles from the Law Journal for your reading pleasure.
If you see anything that our committee should discuss or disseminate to the
membership, please let me know.
The first article (Disability and Leave Law Under President Trump, What's
Next) was brought to my attention by Ginger Croce via Lou Tutt and the
second (Fast-Food Restaurant CEO Tapped to Head Labor Department, What to
Expect) I researched from a link provided in the first article. For now, it
appears the Law Journal anticipates less rigorous regulation and less
rigorous enforcement of existing law. Here is a telling paragraph from the
'Fast-food Restaurant CEO' article:
.Under Puzder, the DOL likely will be more business-minded with respect to
issues under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA). This would result in the administration taking less
aggressive stances (including in terms of litigation) on these laws and
fewer attempts to expand the coverage of these statutes.
