A Spectrum of Physical Activity Opportunities for Children with Visual
Impairments
Presented by Robbin Keating and Justin Haegele, MSed, CAPE
This presentation will begin by discussing the importance of physical
activity for all children and the impact which visual impairments have on
participating in physical activities. The presenters will then discuss
strategies for increasing physical activity involvement for children with
visual impairments through collaboration between professionals, modifying
equipment, and choosing appropriate activities. Activities discussed will
include sports / physical activities designed specifically for children with
visual impairments and traditional sports/ physical activities which are
modified. The presentation will continue with information regarding support
personnel in the physical environment. The presenters will conclude by
speaking about specific sport programs which are designed for children with
visual impairments and how to get your students involved
