Dear Colleagues:
We invite Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments and O&M Specialists
to participate in an 8-week course through the Department of Blindness and
Low Vision Studies at Salus University.
This course will allow participants to develop a working understanding of
best practices for serving children who have neurological visual
impairment, such as Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment and/or strokes, and
their families through the application of the following principles:
- Neuroanatomy
- Assessment (including the CVI Range)
- Intervention
- Collaborative teaming
Instructor: Amy O'Brien, MS-Ed, TVI, VRT
Amy O'Brien is a Special Education Teacher, Teacher of the Visually
Impaired, and Vision Rehabilitation Teacher. She provides itinerant
services to children ages birth through 21, including those with
neurological visual impairments. She has participated in extensive
professional development on educating children with multiple disabilities
and has received Perkins-Roman CVI Range endorsement.
Course Audience: Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments and O&M
Specialists
Course Dates: October 15 through December 16
Where: Online
Cost: $295 + required text - Cortical Visual Impairment: An Approach to
Assessment and Intervention, Second Edition by Christine Roman-Lantzy (AFB
Press)
Credits: 25 ACVREP CEUs, 25 Act 48 Hours, Digital Badge
Be sure to register by Friday, October 12th.
A minimum of 12 registrants is required to run the course as scheduled.
