Hello AERNET Colleagues,
I hope this email find each of you well. I know this is a very busy time of
year, but I’m writing to ask if you would take just a few minutes to help a
PhD student, Rett McBride, by completing his survey about math education
for our high school students with visual impairments. His request is below.
Please share widely.
Thanks,
Penny
Study Participants Needed: A survey of TSVIs to assess the current
status of high school math education for students with visual impairments.
C. Rett McBride is a Mathematics Education Ph.D. student at the University
of Georgia and is recruiting study participants for his dissertation
research: *The Current Status of High School Mathematics Education for
Students with Visual Impairments. * The goals of the study include
estimating participation rates in general education mathematics courses and
gathering information about the tools and technologies used to support
students in high school math. Dr. Tina Herzberg, director of the Visual
Impairment Education program at the University of South Carolina Upstate is
advising. Rett is committed to issues affecting the VI community: he is
also currently collaborating with Dr. L. Penny Rosenblum, director of
research at the American Foundation for the Blind, on two studies of the
impact of COVID-19.
The survey is open to all TSVIs who were practicing in the U.S. in the
2019-2020 academic year. Depending on the number of high school students
(if any) a participant was supporting in the fall of 2019, the survey may
take between 15 and 30 minutes. Responses will be de-identified and used
for research purposes only. If you are eligible, please consider
participating; and feel free to share this announcement and the link to the
survey with colleagues. If you have any questions about the survey or
study, please contact Rett at rett.mcbride@uga.edu.
