I am looking for recommendations for materials to purchase for a student with low vision who will be taking culinary arts next semester. Wonderful Aaron Marsters generated the following list, but just wondered if there are needs we haven't thought of, other recommended resources, and/or ideas that you have for accommodations for cooking with low vision.

Possible Accommodations and AT Options
Reading Recipes and Labels
Use of large print/high-contrast materials, handheld magnifiers, TTS digital recipes, recorded audio
Measuring Ingredients
Tactile and high contrast measuring cups and spoons, talking scales and color-coded tools.
Cutting and Chopping
Utilization of finger guards and guided knife slicers, along with cutting boards having raised edges or guides.
Cooking on Stovetop/Oven
Clearly marked oven and stove controls, audible alerts for timers and tactile markers for settings, oven mitts that extend to the elbow.
Organizing Workspace
Maintaining a consistent, uncluttered workspace layout, with tactile labels for ingredients/tools and color contrast mats.
Following Demonstrations
Positioning near the demonstration area for better visibility, student use of portable video magnifiers, teacher use of Elmo (or similar)
Cleaning and Safety
Tactile markers for cleaning supplies, color coding
