Hi everyone! I’m really looking forward to the CEATI Travel Instructor conference in Las Vegas next month (see below), and plan to stay Saturday night (October 22) and see the Penn & Teller magic show – I’ve never seen them in person!
If you’re thinking of coming to the CEATI conference, do you want come to see Penn & Teller with me? I would love to have some company to enjoy it together. Their website is at http://pennandteller.net – tickets are $80 - $100, though I’m trying to find if there is a discount for buying the tickets so far in advance.
Let me know by this weekend -- we can get tickets to sit together.
Meanwhile, I hope to see you at CEATI! They’ve found a sponsor and are able to keep the cost of registration down indefinitely to the early-bird rate of $125, and they still have plenty of openings.
Enjoy!

Hi everyone -- I’m so excited! I just registered for the awesome-looking conference of CEATI (the Consortium for the Educational Advancement of Travel Instruction) at the RTC Mobility Training Center in Las Vegas Friday and Saturday October 21-22, 2016.
It costs only $125, which includes a light breakfast and lunch both days.
There are TONS of O&M topics there and some things that will stretch your mind! Take a look at the program at www.ceati-travelinstruction.org/conference.html and your mouth will water – some folks have said it’s the best CEATI program ever!
The RTC Mobility Training Center (where the conference will be) is the first building in the country built with the purpose of focusing on Mobility Training. and has their Paratransit Certification Center. I can’t wait to see their indoor environment with streets, traffic signals, variable terrain, ambient sound, and fully functional buses for consumers to practice -- I could have used something like that two weeks ago when trying to find a place for my client to practice getting off and on the train, I‘ll bring some ideas home to our area transit.
CEATI has made arrangements for us to stay at the Orleans Hotel and Casino, which has a swimming pool, bowling alleys, a variety of one-of-a-kind restaurants, and 3 entertainment venues (Don Rickles will be playing there Saturday, October 22). When I registered for 3 nights, the total (including taxes and fees) was $334. The total for 2 nights (Thursday and Friday) is $154 plus taxes and fees. The Decatur bus line will take us directly from the hotel to the conference center, and CEATI provides each p articipant with a free 3-day pass for the Las Vegas public transit system.
I hope to see you there!
