Hi everyone! I’m REALLY looking forward to the next Helen Keller National Center seminar on O&M for deaf-blind people! The on-line segment is April 9-22, 2017 and May 1-4 we are meeting on-site at HKNC Center in Sands Point, New York (the fee includes room and board at the Center).
This seminar is like nothing else held ANYWHERE (and actually, each one is unique – we keep learning and improving it!). Among many other things, it provides extensive hands-on experience using interpreters for O&M lessons with deaf-blind people. This unique venue is the brainchild of Dr. Gene Bourquin, COMS, but – shhh! -- this may be his last one ( he will be retiring this Spring).
Monica Godfrey-Lehrer, COMS (O&M instructor and supervisor at HKNC for many years), Gene and I will be facilitating the seminar, and we’ll be joined by quite a few guest presenters and panelists, including many who are deaf-blind.
This will be the first year we’re opening up the seminar to folks who are not certified O&M specialists, such as university O&M students, deaf-blind specialists, administrators, etc. The flyer is below, and an accessible version is at https://www.facebook.com/BourquinConsulting/posts/1313527022046739 .
If you have any questions, you can contact HKNC’s Cindy Witkow at PLD@hknc.org . Hope to see you there!
