AER Listserv Guidelines - Please Review

Please take a moment to review these highlights of the guidelines AER
members developed for your listservs. We would sincerely appreciate your
adherence to these policies. To view the full AER Listserv Guidelines go to
https://aerbvi.org/resources/aer-listservs/.

Solicitations

Non-AER Events: AER requests that Listserv subscribers refrain from posting
promotions for non-AER events that charge fees.

Third Party Surveys and Solicitations: AER requests that members refrain
from using the Listservs for survey participation solicitation. Survey
requests are better served through the AER list rental program. However,
informal references to surveys may be noted by individuals-for example, "XYZ
is conducting a survey on the topic of ABC. Contact me offline for more
information."

Job Postings: Formal job postings are better served through the AER Job
Exchange; however, informal references to job openings without attachments
may be noted by individuals-for example, "There's an opening for a teacher
of the visually impaired in the greater Detroit, MI area. Contact me offline
for more information."

Commercial: Do not post commercial solicitations. You may refer to products
and services you use that other organizations offer if in response to a
direct request. Otherwise, product recommendations should be limited to
one-on-one communications.

Thank you.

Hi everyone!  It’s helpful to have a reminder of the policies for AER’s listservs, thank you!

Those of you who want to be informed about anything related to O&M that is happening outside of AER, feel free to subscribe to the Open International O&M listserv.  That listserv is open to everyone, and participants are encouraged to share news of anything that is relevant or interesting to O&Ms – conferences, products, strategies and ideas, concerns, advocacy efforts, etc.

Most of the listserv members are O&Ms from the U.S. but there are also researchers, inventors and developers, consumers of O&M and their family members, and a few from around the world.  Some of the best advice regarding O&M and using a cane for reluctant teenagers has come from those who experienced it themselves growing up blind or visually impaired.

You can subscribe by going to http://lists.blindcanadians.ca/mailman/listinfo/orientationandmobility_lists.blindcanadians.ca  – we look forward to seeing you there!

Oops! I forgot to mention that the Open International O&M listserv also allows people to post any surveys and job announcements related to O&M, as well as commercials for products that O&Ms would be interested in.  The only exclusion is that we ask that the message be related to O&M, and of course follow good listserv etiquette.

Thanks!
