Thinking of Matt Hogel and our Puerto Rican colleagues

Hi everyone!  It’s been hard to listen to the news lately – the situation in Puerto Rico sounds so dire and devastating.  Mickey Damelio said that just after the hurricane passed, Matt got word out on Facebook that he’s okay, but . . . well, thing sound so desperate there, I just hope that he and our other colleagues are still okay there.

If anyone wants to send help, I’ve found a place with a list of sanctioned organizations on PBS’s site (I always worry about scams that collect money for these causes) – it’s at
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/can-help-hurricane-victims-puerto-rico/

Meanwhile, if anyone gets any word about how they are doing there, please pass it on to the rest of us.

Thanks!

Hi,
We have a collaboration there and have heard from our two faculty, Adriana Mattei-Sosa and Jose Manolo Alvarez, who are ok. We have heard through others that Dr. Robles is also safe. As you mentioned, Matt is also safe. We have heard from 4 of our 12 students who are safe and some have power and water. All these things aside, as you can tell from the news reports, the islands are devastated. Thank you, Dona, for posting the link for support and aid.

It is so incredibly sad.
