(re-sharing from the Education Taskforce for the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities)
Yesterday, the National Center for Learning Disabilities & Understood unveiled an ESSA Toolkithttps://www.understood.org/en/school-learning/your-childs-rights/basics-about-childs-rights/download-essa-parent-advocacy-toolkit to help parents understand accountability provisions in the law and provide them with practical tools to become effective advocates during the state/local planning process.
Although written for parents of children with learning and attention issues, most the toolkit is equally relevant to parents of students with visual impairments. The advocacy materials at the end of this toolkit are excellent!
Please feel free to check it out and share it! Here's a direct link: http://u.org/toolkit
