Hello everyone,
I am looking for an agency who is able to act as a J1-Visa Sponsor for two O&M Interns coming to the U.S. from Canada.
I am the Director of the Summer Orientation & Mobility and Adapted Living Resource Program - a 3 week, summer residential program for youth who are legally blind and between 16-21 years old. The SOAR is sponsored by the Lighthouse for the Blind - St. Louis.
The SOAR offers 3 O&M internships each year. This year we had 11 applicants for the 3 positions and two of the positions were awarded to interns from the University of B.C., and, as a result, we need to get them a J1-Visa for the 3 weeks they will be here. The internship is non-paid and offers some reimbursement for travel expenses with housing and other costs covered by my program.
I would love to talk with anyone who is, or may know, an agency or business who would consider being a sponsor. As you know, O&M internships are critical to meet the growing shortage of B/VI Professionals and we want to bring these excellent candidates to our program. Please email me if you can help!

Thank you,
Kevin
