Yes, it's April first, but this is no joke - after 4 years apart, WE ARE BACK! The SOMA O&M conference will be in Tampa, Florida December 10-13 this year. Check out our website at https://www.somaconference.org/index.html - meanwhile, here's the scoop:
CALL FOR PAPERS (deadline May 15):
We'd love for you to share ideas and information with your fellow O&Ms. or you can lead a discussion of a topic in which you are interested or have concerns. If you have never presented at a conference before, we encourage you to do it here -- our participants always love hearing from newbies, and we can mentor you through the process if you want.
This year, SOMA will have interactive sessions and engage the participants, in memory and honor of Janet Barlow, who introduced "Feet in the Street" sessions to SOMA and our O&M world. So as you put together your ideas for us to consider, think of how you can involve the participants (we have some suggestions on our website).
Don't worry if you're not sure you can come -- go to the Call for Papers and send us your ideas by May 15, you won't have to commit until the middle of June.
REGISTRATION is set up here.
HOTEL: The Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore, where we had our last SOMA conference in 2018, is within walking distance from various restaurants and minutes from two impressive malls. It has free breakfast buffet for registered guests, free self-parking for all conference attendees, free Wi-Fi and free shuttle for the airport and nearby destinations. We were able to get a SOMA conference rate of $149 plus tax for single occupancy, $159 for double - information is on our website.
We'd LOVE for you to join us in working with a great team to put on the best conference EVER! Whether you're willing to help us plan, or offering to volunteer at the conference, or anything else, please let us know by filling out the form here.
