Looking for VI Early Intervention Programs

Seedlings Braille Books for Children has started a new give-away program called Braille for Beginners (B4B). The goal is to get more braille books into the hands of children with vision loss, ages 0-3, with a special emphasis on possible braille readers who don't yet have any braille books at home. We want to help them and their families become more familiar with braille before they start school.

To keep us from being overwhelmed with requests, we will be sending out 'invitations' to participate as we have time (maybe a 2 or 3 a month), but we need to know where the U.S. VI Early Intervention Programs are ... and the contact information of the person in charge of the program.

If such a list already exists, please let me know how to obtain it. Otherwise, please let me know if you have a VI Early Intervention Program in your school or agency. If so, email me the name of the program, # of children, and the contact information of the person in charge, so we can develop a list. It would be easiest for us to send a box of books to the head person for her/him to distribute to the E-I Specialists to take to families on their home visits, etc.

We are excited about this new program and we thank you for your help!

Best wishes,
Debra J. Bonde, Director

Thank you for including Idaho!
We don't have an Early Intervention Program specific to the visually
impaired, but our IESDB Consulting Teachers for the BVI do serve birth
through three year olds throughout the state.
I am excited about your program! If you will give me a few days, I will
contact our administative assistant--she can give numbers of little ones in
each of our regions, and will pass the number onto you.
