There are a number of choices. Any of the iOS devices will give the student access to reading, writing, research apps. VoiceOver is compatible with something like 30 refreshable braille devices and comes with the device. No additional access software necessary.

Just a thought, but, if you are spending a few thousand dollars for a Braille display anyway, and you have a Braille reader/writer, why not have a Braille Note taker that can double as a display and the student can produce documents and print them out directly using Braille especially with the newest note takers like Humanware's Braille Note Touch and the latest note taker from Hims? Also, the Braille Note Touch is an android tablet with all those have to offer. Like the other person said, these tablets are also accessible as Braille displays for IOS products.

So what I’m hearing is if you are spending $2500 why not spend $5000? I mean if the school will go for it and is an android environment… Go for it! It may be a good idea to open with the Braille Mobile device (my word for notetaker without productivity suite) and back up to the Braille Notetaker/Display (again my terminology).
