Good morning AER Listserv professionals - We are seeking a therapeutic residential treatment facility that will take my student who is blind, 12 years old - 7th grade.  This student is cognitively intact, totally blind, and exhibiting some extreme anger issues.  Most facilities are telling us that they are not "certified" for blindness, which I see as their uneasiness with taking a student who is blind, because they don't know how to deal with that disability.  I am seeking anyone throughout the country who has placed a student successfully with a facility, and information to contact that facility.  Please contact me back at my personal email pleader@comcast.net if you are aware of such a placement.
Thank you for your help and support.

Hi Pat,

Some thoughts -
Wayfinder (formally Junior Blind)  has a great program, I believe it is located in Los Angeles.  One of my students went there for 2 years, had behavior problems that couldn’t be handled at home and was visually impaired as well as autistic.  https://www.wayfinderfamily.org/

I also know of another one in Kansas, Heartspring www.heartspring.org , I have a co-worker whose son is there.  I don’t know if they have any issues with visual impairment but they have done wonders with her son.
