I hope all of you are able to take some time and relax over the summer! If you are among those of us still working (for a variety of reasons) or simply checking your e-mail on occasion ... I am looking for some information and would love your help.
I am doing some research on state licensure requirements.
Does your state require the completion of a VI program/the recommendation from an IHE prior to an individual acquiring a VI license (or endorsement, credential, etc.)? Or does your state simply require that individual's pass an exam (e.g., Praxis or state identified exam)?
Utah requires the completion of a VI program and the completion of - either - EdTPA or PPAT. I remember others mentioning that states were allowing individuals to "simply" pass a test while I cannot remember the states in which that was allowed. I don't agree with that practice and the research I am doing will not help with that piece specifically, it will hopefully help in other arenas.
Thanks in advance!
Chris

I know that North Carolina was one of the states that allows special education teachers to pass the TVI Praxis exam to work with children who are visually impaired. Did Florida do something similar?
Pennsylvania does require people to complete a VI program: https://www.education.pa.gov/Educators/Certification/CertFAQs/Pages/default.aspx
Did Rachel Schles at Vanderbilt publish something about this issue? Maybe it was just about eligibility for VI services . . .?
At any rate, I believe the folks who are working on an updated NPTP were gathering this info. Anyone on this list who is working on that project have the info that Chris wanted?
