Meeting Name: Jay Day
Summary: As many of you know Jay Stiteley died after a very short illness on July 23 . Because this happened so rapidly, many who knew him were unable to attend his funeral or express their admiration for what this wonderful man had achieved in life.
Jay touched many people throughout his career. He had worked in Illinois, Texas, California, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Arkansas. His contribution was felt at Schools for the Blind, the Veterans Administration, AFB, The Seeing Eye, ACVREP and the Houston Mayors Office for People with Disabilities and in the lives of hundreds of people who are blind and professionals in the field of blindness nationwide!
To celebrate the life of someone so widely known and admired requires a National event and those who knew him well are putting one together.
On Friday September 16th (the day after Jay's birthday) a National "Remember Jay" day will be held.
At 4PM Eastern Daylight Time there will be gatherings in Jay's honor at various places around the country including The Seeing Eye (Morristown, NJ) where Karen Stiteley, Jay's wife, will be in attendance, the offices of ACVREP (Tucson, AZ), and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired among others.
The sites will be inter-connected via webcam and there will be opportunities for those who knew Jay to speak, as well as the ability for people to call in and remember Jay.

I am looking forward to this event! I wanted to clarify that people can
join this from anywhere - not just at those group sites - and in a couple
of ways:
You can join for audio only, just hopping on the phone using the
conference number: Toll Free: 877-226-9790 access code: 5546671.
You can join via the Adobe Connect software from your computer so you
will be able to access video by clicking on the link:
http://tsbvi.adobeconnect.com/jayday/. The Adobe Connect window will give
you a choice and you will need to select either receiving the audio on the
computer OR join via the phone. You cannot get audio from BOTH - that leads
to horrible feedback!
My comment: To make sure you are hearing the conversation, although you
can use computer audio, it is sometimes best to listen via the telephone
number. That way even if your computer network "blinks", you will still be
connected.
