Hello Personnel Prep Colleagues,

We know this is a busy time of year, so we wanted to remind you about the resources we have created for personnel preparation colleagues. As you may recall, during her sabbatical in Spring 2019 Tina Herzberg began creating "Learning the Nemeth Code within UEB Contexts: A Step-by-Step Guide". This project has been a work in progress ever since, with the authors volunteering hundreds of hours. For those of you who have had the opportunity to use the materials and have provided feedback, thank you!! We are now ready to release the final materials in print and BRF format ensuring accessibility for both students and instructors who are braille readers.

We ask that you delete any previous materials from your devices and learning management system. We have created new Google Drive and Dropbox folders to distribute the materials to university instructors. The materials include the book, Power Points to accompany each chapter, and answer keys for the End of Chapter Exercises. The Answer Keys to the End of Chapter Exercises are to be kept "under lock and key" and not shared with students!

Even if you or your instructor(s) have used our materials previously you MUST complete a brief formhttps://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fuofsc.co1.qualtrics.com%2Fjfe%2Fform%2FSV_efTX9CZ5GS170l8&data=05%7C01%7Cherzberg%40uscupstate.edu%7Cc34cb4dfb1394c9f826a08dad1491723%7C8cba7b629e8646c69b1b06504a61c72d%7C0%7C0%7C638052409102401196%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=i%2F0DxxJnUAHDAbAGkadZbmi0jAaudj5q2EpsanXgKyA%3D&reserved=0 to access the folders containing the final versions of the materials. The front matter (other than table of contents) and Chapters 1-3 have been released. Chapters 4 and 5 will be released shortly. We anticipate the rest of the materials will be gradually added to the folder as it is finalized.

The 8 chapters are:

  • Chapter 1: Nemeth Code Symbols Used in Grades PK-1
  • Chapter 2: Additional Nemeth Code Symbols and Formats Used in Grades PK-1
  • Chapter 3: An Introduction to Nemeth Code Symbols Used in Grades 2-6
  • Chapter 4: Spatial Arrangements and Number Lines
    Used in Grades K-6
  • Chapter 5: Fractions and Mixed Numbers
  • Chapter 6: Symbols Used in the Middle Grades
  • Chapter 7: Geometry for All Grade Levels
