During this one-week residential camp, 12 - 15 high school students with VIB will explore various fields of STEM, including the Grand Challenges of Engineering. Through engaging hands-on activities, interactive tours of area university labs, and industries, students will interact with mentors in STEM fields and dive into exciting topics such as biomechanics, canine cognition, and data analytics. Topics will include an introduction to engineering, computer science and programming. Throughout the week, students will live on a college-like campus in dorms, experience life alongside undergraduate mentors and become immersed in current research techniques. Goals 1. Explore various aspects of STEM and apply knowledge and creativity to solve problems 2. Further develop creativity and communication skills 3. Explore current research at area university and engineering labs 4. Develop transition to college skills, strategies, and practice using assistive technology, including self-advocacy skills 5. Have fun! Eligibility This camp is open to rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students with VIB that are independent travelers, performing at or above grade level , and are potentially interested in careers in STEM.
