Hi Colleagues,

I know some of you have ended your school year and some of you are in the last few days or weeks of the school year.  It's hard to think about the 2018-2019 school year at this point.  However, the AnimalWatch Vi: Building Graphics Literacy project team is working diligently this summer to recruit 48+ students and their TVIs for a research study that will begin in the fall. The attached flyer explains the study targeting students doing math at the 6th-7th grade level who will benefit in building their skills to become more efficient and accurate in getting information from graphics (e.g., line graphs, bar graphs, coordinate planes, box and whisker plots).  We have worked hard this spring to test our materials and processes with more than 40 students in the US who completed 170 math units.  We're excited to have you and your student be a part of our national pilot study in 2018-2019.

So that we can get "up and running" early in the school year, I'm working this summer to get district/school approvals in place. If you have a student who is an iPad user and would benefit from using our materials, please reach out to me at rosenblu@u.arizona.edumailto:rosenblu@u.arizona.edu. I will ask you for your administrator's contact info. and I'll take it from there to figure out how to get approval. This way, when school starts up we can be ready to go with a formal invitation to you and the family for participation.  Some districts and schools have a lengthy (up to 3 month) process for approval, so it's important I get a head-start.

Hope to hear from you!
Penny
