Good morning all!
I'm writing this brief note (otherwise I'm likely to go on for pages) to share that today, August 17, is my last day as Senior Policy Researcher at AFB. I have accepted a position as the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments for the Saint Thomas and Saint John school district in the U.S. Virgin Islands, beginning September 5.
I will sincerely miss my amazing colleagues at AFB, but I am certainly not leaving the field of blindness and visual impairment. I am excited to remain active in AER, to explore adjunct-instructor opportunities, to write and research, and to volunteer with efforts related to aging and vision loss.
Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported AFB's policy and research efforts over the past four years. I have learned so much (and I still have so much to learn)! To follow my adventures in Saint Thomas, check out my new blog - "TVI in the VI" http://TVIintheVI.wordpress.com If you know about last year's hurricanes in the Caribbean, then you know that the Virgin Islands' schools and students need significant support to continue to grow and learn while classrooms and communities are being rebuilt around them.
Stay tuned for updates from AFB about changes, transitions, and new adventures in policy research. My personal-professional email address going forward is rebeccamsheffield@outlook.commailto:rebeccamsheffield@outlook.com
Best wishes to everyone!
