Pre-Conference Workshop Reminder Penn-Del AER’s Professional Development Workshop: Focus on Leadership Have you heard about this year’s exciting Pre-Conference Workshop opportunity? Whether or not you are planning to attend the 2019 Penn-Del AER Conference, you may wish to register for the Penn-Del Chapter of AER’s inaugural pre-conference professional development workshop! The workshop will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm in the Heritage Room. A working lunch is provided as part of the registration fee. The concept behind this professional development workshop sprung out of the Penn-Del AER Board’s recent intensive strategic planning sessions. The intent of this and future workshops in this series is to extend our commitment to provide outstanding growth and training opportunities for AER members as well as for others in our professional community. Penn-Del AER’s 2019 professional development workshop — Focus on Leadership — will be conducted by Dr. Amy J. Armstrong who presented the well-received Midnote Address at the 2018 Penn-Del AER Conference. If you attended that Midnote Address or know Amy, you also know that this will not be merely a morning “lecture!” During this 3.5-hour interactive training, Amy will lead participants as they engage in activities that allow them to organically discover new aspects of leadership within themselves and for those they serve. Dr. Armstrong — Professor and Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University — strongly believes that, regardless of one’s title or position, each professional has the opportunity and the responsibility to build healthy communities and to address the challenge of difficult conversations when necessary. Her work and her workshops focus on appreciative leadership skills and ways in which leaders can grow themselves and others, both personally and professionally. In this initial Penn-Del Professional Development Workshop: Focus on Leadership, Dr. Armstrong emphasizes the relational aspects of leadership and ways we can build and strengthen our collaborative work, ultimately impacting the work that we do with students, clients, and colleagues.
