Hello from a slightly warmer North Dakota this week! Does anyone know where a person can get Chinese Braille? I have a new student who can only read Chinese Braille at this point. Limited print and understanding of the English language.

I once tried to look it up, and found some information here: http://www.braille.ch/pschin-e.htm. Not sure that it's enough to help, but it's a start.

If possible find out which Chinese braille/language they know and/or where
your new student is from in China.
There are 3 main braille codes for China, Mandarin Braille, Yue Braille
[Cantonese], and Taiwanese Braille.
I hope this helps? Feel free to contact me off list if I can be of help.

Good morning -
Here's some information from Yan Zhang, who works in our Accessible Tests and Textbooks Department at APH:
There are primarily 3 different types of Chinese braille used in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. I am guessing the teacher is looking for Mainland Chinese braille used in Mainland China.
Here is the only Chinese braille transcriber in the US I can find online:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/brett-everett-0b34349
However, she didn't specify which type of Chinese braille she is able to transcribe, but you can start from there.
Thanks,
Yan

Dear Lanna:
I would approach the Braille Association of Northern America to find a Braille interpreter of Chinese Braille. I would honestly use a Chinese Translation Program w/ use of One Note or Word w/ a Braille display. These are just a few thoughts.

Hello, everyone -
The following information is from Joon Lee, in the Resource Services Department at APH, and provides instructions on using our Accessible Media Producers database to find materials in a variety of languages. Please feel free to contact Joon at jlee@aph.orgmailto:jlee@aph.org if you have additional questions.
Here's how to locate a certain accessible media producer using the Accessible Media Producers (AMP) Directory.
Keyword Search:
Click the Accessible Media Producers Database or AMP while on APH's homepage or Louis Database.
Enter your keywords in the search box.
(For example, type in arabic and ueb in the search box if you are looking for a transcriber capable of the Arabic language and UEB.)
Click the Search AMP button.
Click the link on each result for detailed information about the producer.
For tips on what keywords can be used for effective AMP searches, click the "Help" tab in the navigation bar across the top of the AMP site.
Browse the AMP Directory:
By Alphabetical listings
By State
By Format
By Language
Click the Accessible Media Producers Database or AMP while on APH's homepage or Louis Database.
Click the "Browse Directory" tab in the navigation bar across the top.
Click the link of your choice - for example, Agencies Listed by Language.
Select an option in the drop down menu - for example, "Arabic."
Click each result for detailed information about the producer.
I hope this is helpful!
Janie
